I forgot...
how easliy it is to stare at your perfect little baby for hours.
that you can not go anywhere without a spit-up cloth over your shoulder... if you do, the baby will spit up more than usual, just because you don't have that spit-up cloth.
that you will smell like spit up... all the time. Even when you just get out of the shower. (Somehow this is possible.)
you need to beware of poopexplosions in the middle of a diaper change.
that when you have a baby, the thought of going to the store feels like the end of the world. (Luckily I found a way out of going to the store... read more about that here.)
how much stuff you must bring with you every time you need to leave the house.
how cute the little pouty lip is!
how much laundry one tiny person can make.
(No wonderful husband, it isn't that I like to play "dress up" with the baby - instead it seems every time I put an outfit on the baby, he either spits up or poops or pees all over it... yes, the baby finds it amusing to do this to my clothes too.)
that no matter what time of day it is, when I try to eat the baby cries.... wanting to be fed, played with or held.... or maybe babies find it funny to make you juggle a wiggly-worm-fussing baby while trying to eat... or maybe they are just trying to be nice and making sure you don't burn your mouth by ensuring you always eat a cold dinner.
that when you put two tiny socks in the washer only one comes out.
the first time your baby sleeps through the night you are up every hour to make sure the baby is still breathing (and to change your clothes because you leaked breastmilk everywhere).
that just because the baby has slept 7 hours one night it does not mean he will do it again. Ever.
you may never get a good nights sleep again. (I couldn't survive without coffee.)
as cliche as it sounds, time goes by way too fast. Benjamin has already double his birth weight and then some!
the love never stops growing. Every single smile and laugh is as amazing as the first!
and just how much you can love!!
ReplyDeletehe is just way too cute!
Great post Erika! All of it so so true!! I see you've experienced the peeing & pooing all over you you get w/boys! My oldest son Braedon used to do it to me all the time!
