I have always wanted to like running. Somehow it never quite seemed right for me.
This would be the only thing that would get me going...
This year was different. I started the Couch to 5k program in June. I finally started to enjoy running. The program was perfect for beginners. For extra motivation, I signed up for my first 5k a couple weeks after I was scheduled to complete the C25K program.
Then, mid-July I injured myself (piriformis syndrome I believe).
I had to cross train for about a month because it hurt too bad to run. Then a week before my scheduled 5k I only squeezed in two runs!
Somehow, yesterday... not only did I complete my first 5k...

I did it in 29:31!
It felt amazing!
The 5k was held in the evening at a local vineyard.
My family came out to watch, cheer me on and then we had a nice picnic and listened to the live band!
It was certainly fun with little Benjamin now that he is moving all over the place.
He also had very little interest in his boring baby food and just wanted our food!

Chloe had a great time playing with Benjamin
and running around, showing us how fast she can run!
It was a great accomplishment and a wonderful feeling making my family proud of me!
(I never, ever, in a million years thought I would run a 5k)
I told Chloe I ran the 5k to show her that you can do anything you set your mind to!
I know it may not seem like a huge feat to many of you... but I've always said running a 5k was one of my life goals!
Another wonderful goal I reached this week... my weight loss goal of losing 50lbs. I've lost an entire Chloe since December.
I couldn't have accomplished these goals without the love and support from my wonderful husband!
I am already looking forward to my next 5k. There is one next month at the zoo that sounds like it will be fun!
Congratulations on a stellar first 5k!!!
